Would you like to meet other parents at a food workshop?
The Ottawa Good Food Box offers workshops on nutrition and cooking. Our program is free and is available to any schools in Ottawa. Our workshops promote healthy eating through fun and informative presentations and hands-on cooking. They are delivered by Registered Dietitians, Community Food Advisors, or local Chefs.
Good Food in Schools provides a series of workshops for parents and students. We work with schools to organize the program and offer a survey to families that will help determine the nutritional needs and interests of the community.
Workshop topics include:
- Making Healthy School Lunches
- Vegetarian Cooking
- Healthy Weight Loss
- Quick and Healthy Family Meals
Separate workshops are offered to children 6-12. Our children’s workshops are delivered by trained volunteers and include stories, games, and cooking activities.
Would you like Fresh Fruit & Vegetables in your community?
The Good Food Box is open to everyone. You can start an Ottawa Good Food Box site anywhere in Ottawa as long as there are at least 10 interested customers and a volunteer coordinator. There are three box sizes available: small $10, medium $15, or large $20, as well as a $5 fruit bag and a $25 organic box. Each box is filled with nutritious produce and a newsletter with recipes, nutritional information, and cooking tips. Orders and deliveries are made once a month.
